With the upcoming refurbishment to Sleeping Beauty Castle (still not officially announced, but is due to happen this year), it was rumoured that the current castle show and Christmas lightning would be replaced during the 2020 Holiday season with a new night-time parade, this now doesn’t seem to be the case.
Instead, the current Christmas parade will receive an upgrade to include a night time mode.
What this means is that the parade will be running both during the day, as it currently does, but with the addition of new lighting to the parade floats, the parade will become a major part of the night time entertainment, lighting up Main Street USA in Parc Disneyland.
But this isn’t the end of talk of a new parade for Disneyland Paris in general. Oh no, while it may have been delayed until 2022, Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary, imagineers are working hard on a replacement for Stars on Parade, itself a new parade for the 25th anniversary of the resort.
I can’t help but be a little disappointed in that news. While Stars on Parade isn’t a favourite of mine, it feels a little bit of a waste to have only had it for 5 years, plus it kind of curtails any chance of have having a brand new just after dark parade. While it may be available to run at night, it would rule out the likes of Paint the Night type spectacular.
Paris isn’t the only park to suffer from a lack of parade in the later hours of park opening. Walt Disney World also suffers the same fate over the last few years.
Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World, in recent years, have concentrated on their Castle displays, with the introduction of Illuminations and Happily Ever After. respectively.
