New Disney Springs Drone Light Show Shines Bright

Now for those of you that listen to Dis After Dark, you will have noticed that I haven’t been a huge fan of Walt Disney World’s recent night time spectaculars. Specifically I think the situation with projection and firework(!!!) shows at Hollywood Studios, with firstly the Star Wars show and now Jingle Bells, Jingle Bam, have left me hugely disappointed. Add to that the removal of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (it held a huge place in my heart as it was one of the most spectacular things I saw on my first trip to Disney with my then Fiancee, now Wife) and the appalling delays of Rivers of Light at Animal Kingdom.

Well something has now come along and completely washed that bad taste of my mouth.

In conjunction with Intel, Disney have created what I now believe to be the future of night time shows. Using 600 drones equipped with twinkling lights, Disney have produced a show that could be used in any situation.

Currently called Starbright Holidays, the drones are used to create iconic symbols of Christmas, including trees and doves, all set to the sound of Holiday songs (in similar fashion to the Osborne Lights).

Obviously the set programs of the drone can be changed to fit any season or create a whole new show. So much so that rumour has it this could be the training ground for the drones to be used as the replacement for Illuminations over at Epcot.

For me this could see the end of the use of fireworks in the future, as technically these drones could be used to create anything Disney might desire.
